International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2)

Summary
ISC2′s greatest achievement might well be turning the longest name in history into the shortest in the industry, but they’d like us to believe it’s the quality of their certifications that set’s them apart.
In saying this, they are almost certainly right – whilst ISACA’s CISA qualification may be the baseline, ISC2′s CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) is probably the gold standard. The two are not directly comparable – ISC2 focuses its efforts on systems security, whereas ISACA has a much wider remit – but whilst many IT auditors still have no industry certifications, many aspire to or hold both CISA and CISSP.
ISC2 also provides a number of other qualifications, and there are a number of specialisations within CISSP – a qualification that is notable both for the punishing 6 hour exam and the stringent CPD requirements.
